APA Style Help
Ever need a little help with your APA references and citations? Recently, I needed to check on the correct way to reference a book by the Dalai Lama. A little bit of internet research reveals the APA itself offers quick answers and useful information to this and many other style questions. I’m sure you already know about their style guides, but did you know they also offer instructional aids and online courses – for a fee.
They offer free information, as well. The APA Style website offers quick answers to questions regarding formatting, references and answers to their most Frequently Asked Questions. In addition, The APA Style blog offers informative posts on a variety of APA style questions.
So how do you cite the Dalai Lama? You can find out for yourself: How to Cite Pseudonyms.

Having been an online student now for a number of years, five years with University of Phoenix, and now a full-time student at Atlantic University, I have become well acquainted with APA formatting; however, for many new students, the rules associated with this format is rather daunting and time-consuming to acquire a proficiency. While still attending University of Phoenix, I learned about a software plug-in that will attach itself to your Microsoft Word software that automatically takes care of APA formatting for you. It is called Perrla and their website is http://www.perrla.com/APADetails.aspx. This software only cost about $35 and it is directly downloadable from their website in a matter of minutes. The site offers regular updates and if you need to transfer your software to another computer, they make the process very easy at their website. I highly recommend this software as it saves you a lot of time and allows you to concentrate on WHAT you are writing without having to worry so much about the details of the APA formatting. I am not proposing that this software be a replacement for having a personal knowledge of APA, but rather it being a useful tool for productivity and efficiency.
